Our 2nd year, we chose Bizet’s Carmen set in in the late 1930’s during the Spanish Civil War.
2013 – Bizet’s Carmen
This was a gutsy performance........Yvonne Fontane, who also directed, stalked throught the part in a serious attempt to find what this woman is about. Carmen uses the only weapon she has in a man’s world..... Gianluca Paganelli’s Jose has a voice close to the real thing.... Natasha Day’s Micaela had real radiance and a homespun strength of character. Njabulo Madlala was a masculine Escamillo and Nicholas Legoux an effectively louring Zuniga.
